Darcie Little Badger, a member of the Lipan Apache Tribe, is a novelist, short story writer, and earth scientist with a Ph.D. in oceanography. Her debut novel, Elatsoe, was featured in Time Magazine as one of the best 100 fantasy books of all time. Her second novel, A Snake Falls to Earth, won the John Newbery Medal and was longlisted for the National Book Awards. Her third novel, Sheine Lende, is inspired by the perseverance of her family in 1970s Texas.
